Fillers by Dr. Leonora Ogbeide can fill in lines and wrinkles, plump up sunken areas, and restore a more youthful appearance. Dermal filler injections can enhance lips, cheeks, and other facial features.
Using dermal fillers can vary based on individual needs and desired outcomes. Dr. Leonora Ogbeide is a fully licenced family physician who is specially trained in aesthetic medicine. Dr. Ogbeide performs all filler injections herself and will assess your skin type and concerns to achieve the results you desire.
How Do Fillers Work?
Dermal fillers work by injecting hyaluronic acid (HA) into the skin to add volume and create a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Fillers naturally occur in the body and help to maintain moisture and volume in the skin. When HA-based dermal fillers are injected into the skin, they attract and bind to water molecules, which leads to the plumping and volumizing effects that shape facial features for a more youthful appearance.
Using a fine needle, filler will be applied to the targeted areas. Dr. Leonora Ogbeide will carefully assess the depth and placement of the filler in order to achieve the results you are after. Multiple injections may be needed in some cases.

How long does a dermal filler last?
The effects of dermal fillers vary depending on the type of filler, the location of the dermal injection, the individual’s metabolism, and their personal health and lifestyle. Sun exposure, smoking, and overall health affect the longevity of the fillers.
Generally, the results of dermal fillers are temporary, and the effects gradually diminish over time. This happens when the filler is naturally broken down and absorbed by the body. Most filler injections can be expected to last from several months to over a year.

Do fillers make you look younger?
Having filler injections done at Illustria Medical Aesthetics can give you a more youthful appearance. As we age, our skin gradually loses volume and elasticity. When this happens, the skin begins to form wrinkles and fine lines, giving it a sunken look. Unlike Botox, injections of dermal fillers work by replenishing the lost volume, which restores a smoother, plumper appearance to the skin, which reduces the visible signs of ageing and makes you look younger.
Dermal fillers fill in lines and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds (smile lines) and marionette lines, making them less noticeable or even completely smoothing them out. Volume is restored to areas like the cheeks, temples, and under the eyes, giving a more youthful and lifted look. Contouring and reshaping can be done to certain facial features, such as the chin, jawline, and nose. Thinning lips are a common sign of ageing as well, and fillers from Illustria can add volume and definition to the lips. Dermal fillers provide a noticeable rejuvenating effect to the face; contact Dr. Leonora Ogbeide at Illustria Medical Aesthetics for a consultation to learn more.

Does skin sag after fillers?
There is a misconception that skin sags after dermal filler treatments wear off. No, skin does not sag more after dermal fillers wear off. Dermal fillers do not have a direct impact on skin sagging once they have been absorbed by the body and their effects have diminished. When the effects of dermal fillers wear off, the skin gradually returns to its pre-treatment state. The visible change caused by the filler treatment wearing off can give the illusion that skin is sagging because the benefits of the original treatment are gone, but it does not sag more as a direct result of the filler wearing off.
It’s important to note that the ageing process, including the natural loss of collagen and elastin, can contribute to skin sagging over time. However, this is unrelated to the use of dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are temporary, so if the skin appears to look less youthful after the initial treatment has worn off, then re-treatment may be required.
